As we have seen a growing trend in people trying to make ends meet however possible, are we really living a balanced work and personal life. People these days seem to work longer, spend less time with their friends and family an this issue has become a major public health concern.

People spend a lot of time at work, families aren’t eating dinners together anymore, adults commute back and forth from their office spending less time with their kids. People in North America today simply have priorities backwards, and would rather work a 10 hour day come home and sit in front of the TV and that’s not a healthy balance.

The threats of illness and diseases are extremely high for those who have too much stress and do not have the proper healthy balance in their lives. And people continue to believe that money is more important than health and fun and you can’t be productive.

The perfect balance is to have enough of work, to full fill a purpose or to achieve something, family, friends and self. Achievement gives us great self esteem and without a balance that grounds us, like spending time with friends and family making memories.

Most people forget to take time for themselves, you can do is set aside 20 minutes a day or plan something every week just for your self. Plan to do something special or simply to remind you self of the great job you’re doing or do something positive.

Keeping yourself with the right balance isn’t always simple, but just remember life is short and always be an optimist about your future.
