Is Drinking Cold Water Really Bad For Hydration?

Just researched this topic and I found out that drinking cold water isn’t actually the best way to drink water! Can you believe it? It’s actually better for you to drink luke warm water, rather than a nice glass of cold water. This sucks!

I have always enjoyed drinking nice cold water, especially when I work because it refreshes me and cools me down while I am working a sweat. But this is actually not good for your hydration. Luke warm water is actually better for your body to absorb and its much better at hydrating your body.

I was stunned to find this out and I was really kinda bummed at first. It’s really not fun to drink warm water when you want to have a glass. Do I figured, forget it! Warm water is not fun to drink, who wants to drink that?

The solution to this is to simply use other methods to keep your body hydrated. It doesn’t mean that your body wont get hydrated from cold water, it just wont be as effective as when its warm. You can simply eat a number of different things that will keep your body hydrated throughout the day, without resorting to gross luke warm water.

Drink Coconut Water, Coconut water is the milk which comes from Coconuts. It contains a high amount of electrolytes which will keep your body hydrated for a longer period than water will. And Coconut water actually contains high amounts of potassium which will help repair muscles fast and keep them strong.

Another thing to do is to drink a sports drink like Gatorade or Powerade. This have more electrolytes that regular water, which will help keep your body hydrated much longer than any glass of putrid warm water. Yuk, gross!

I suspect that it may have something to do with the amount of electrolytes your body can absorb when it takes them from warm water instead of cold water. It must be much easier for your body to absorb the electrolytes when the water is warm.
